AMANDA LORRAINE JOHNSON

Amanda Lorraine Johnson, 49, of Cartersville, GA passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2017. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 2:00pm at St. Luke A.M.E.Church, 130 Jones Street, Cartersville, GA 30120. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00pm until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 7:00pm – 8:00pm at the Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home.

Amanda Lorraine Johnson was born August 6, 1967 in Cartersville, Georgia to Ethel Marie (Martin) Johnson and the late John Willie Johnson. She was the youngest of their twelve children and the primary caregiver of her mom. Amanda, known to her family as “Manda,” attended Cartersville High School and the University of West Georgia.

Amanda also had a funny sense of humor, loved going to yard sales, and was not afraid to tell you what was on her mind. She also loved music, old black-and-white movies about African Americans and collected coffee table books on African American history. She loved her family - especially her nieces and nephews.

Amanda is survived by her mother Ethel Marie (Martin) Johnson; sisters, Lavinia Diane Elliott (Hershel), Darlene Garnigan, Sonia Wiggins (the late Horace Wiggins), Greta Vanzant, and Faith J. Jones (Danny) ; brothers, Willie Eugene Johnson, Aaron Darnell Johnson, Mitchell Lynn Johnson, and John Patrick Johnson. She had a host of favorite nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
