Dorothy Baugh (Baugh) Green

Mrs. Dorothy B. Green, 91, of Cartersville, GA passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 11:00am at St. Luke AME Church, 130 Jones Street, Cartersville, GA. 30120. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 16, 2017 from 7:00pm - 8:00pm at the Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home.
 
Dorothy was born December 12, 1925 in Cartersville, Georgia to the union of Roy Columbus Baugh and Bertha Wise Morris. She had six siblings, Mamie Baugh Knox, Leroy Baugh, Ollie Baugh Knox, James Baugh, Sarah Baugh Douglas and Margaret Baugh Johnson. Dorothy married Charles Monroe Green, Sr. of Cartersville, Georgia in 1957 and their marriage was blessed with a daughter, Cheryll Denise and two stepchildren, Charles Madison and Corrie Lee.
 
Dorothy began her 34-year teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse in Red Bud, Georgia. She also taught in Calhoun City and Bartow County Schools. Dorothy's exceptional teaching awarded her recognition in Who's Who of American Teachers in 1976. She maintained lifelong friendships with colleagues and mentored many of her students over the years. She retired in 1984.
 
Dorothy is survived by a sister, Margaret Baugh Johnson; a devoted daughter, Cheryll Denise Green Allen; nine grandchildren, Quandra James, Steve Callahan, Ortega Green, Charles Green III, Brenton Barney, Megan Barney, Shawn Charles Cameron Allen, Verna Lisa Clark, Kimberly James and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
