Mrs. Janice Louise Jewell Brown was born November 7, 1957 in Cartersville, Georgia to the late Molly Louise Jewell and William Wofford.

At an early age she joined New Hope Baptist Church, later moving her membership to Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Eugene Mitchell.

Janice worked for Rich’s Department Store as a sales clerk for seventeen years.  She accepted a job with the City of Cartersville as a customer service clerk and retired after thirty six years of service. While working full time at the City of Cartersville, Janice met Ray Thacker, owner of Grand Oaks and came on board to help with the catering business. She joined him and not only assisted him but assisted Danny Gurley, owner of Stonewall Manor. Her love for catering grew stronger and she wanted to bring her best friend and co-worker, Jerri Knowles into the business.  In 2007 Janice & Jerri starting their own catering business “J & J Catering” their business really thrived and they hosted weddings, parties, some of Cartersville most elite events and special events for the State of Georgia at the Governor’s Mansion.
