John W. Green

Mr. John Willie Green, 78, of Rockmart, Georgia passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 2:00pm at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 828 Martin Luther King Jr. Street, Rockmart, GA. The family received friends on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00pm until the hour of service. Interment will be Friday, February 3, 2017 in the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.

John Willie Green was born May 13, 1938 to the late Jesse Green and the late Eudora Smith. He departed this earthly life to be with our Heavenly Father.

He was educated in the Bartow County School System. After graduating he joined the United States Air Force. Having served his country diligently he received the Airmen of the Year Award from President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

After returning home from the service he met and later married the former Annie Mae Watson and to this union they were blessed with three daughters. John later met and married the late Carolyn Nation and to this union they were blessed with one son.

John never met a stranger, he loved helping people: and making conversation was one of his favorite things to do.

John joined First Zion Baptist Church where he served faithfully until his began to fail. He enjoyed listening to the sermons of Reverend Henley every Sunday.

John leaves to cherish his loving memories; three daughters, Venetia Wright, Carla Hardy, and Delia Green; one son, Dominique Green; six grandchildren, Stephen Green, Dominique Green, Jr., Monterius Hames, Typhonus Green, Andrea Sims, and Andre Sims; three great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Della Davis and Gail Sherfield; brother-in-law, Bruce Nation; uncle, Henry Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
