Polly Dillard (Ellis) Hames

Polly Hames, 61 of Rockmart Georgia passed on Tuesday, April 19, 2016. Funeral Service will be Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Church of Lord Jesus. The body will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will follow in the Polk Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Polly was born May 18, 1954 in Cartersville, Georgia to the late Willie Ellis and Mary Annie Laura Johnson Ellis.

She was educated in the Bartow County School System and attended Cass High School.

At an early age Polly accepted Christ at Damascus Baptist, Emerson, Georgia. After marrying Linzy Dillard, Sr., she moved to Rockmart and united with the First Zion Baptist Church, where she served faithfully. After his death, Polly married Phil Hames and moved her membership to the Church of Lord Jesus, where she was a Deaconess, choir member, usher, Sunday school teacher, worked with the Multimedia Ministry and Pastor’s Aide.

Polly had a large personality, and was well known throughout her community; participating in the 4C’s Summer Camp, ministerial association and making guest appearances as the soloist to many of the local churches. She had a passion for singing, dancing, having fun with her family and friends.

She leaves to cherish her memory four children, Latresha (John) Davenport, Dana Solomon, LaQuitta (Daniel) Jones, and Linzy (Crystal) Dillard, Jr.; sister, Carrie Robinson; three stepchildren, Sonya Bryant, Terry (Lacrisha) Hames and Jerry (Lindsey) Hames; ten grandchildren, Lance Bryant, Lacie Banks, Lyrica Solomon, LaNia Langston, Jaden Langston, Kerri Johnson, Luke Bryant, Leila Jones, Lexi Jones and Lynzi Jones; two great-grandchildren, Admyre and Li Jah Bryant; a Goddaughter, Christine Strickland and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends .
