WILLIE VERNER CARTER

Mr. Willie V. Carter, 69, of Cartersville, GA passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11:00am at St. Luke A.M.E.Church, 130 Jones Street, Cartersville, GA 3012. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 10:00am until the hour of service

Willie was born on April 26, 1948 in Cartersville, Georgia to the late Christine Bowden and Troy Carter.He was educated in the Cartersville/Bartow County School System, attending the Summer Hill High School.

In 1968 he married Brenda Carson and to this union three children were born.

He was a faithful and active member of Mt. Zion Grassdale Baptist Church until his passing.

Willie retired from Mohawk Carpet Company. After his retirement, he became the community handyman. He enjoyed helping people in need. Willie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Willie was an avid sportsman, watching and following the Atlanta Falcons and other teams.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Brenda A. Carter; three children, Torrance (Stephanie) Carter, Gwendolyn ( Mike) Tanner, and Patrick (Linda) Carter; five grandchildren, Yasmine Carter, Kehydra Tanner, Dequan Carter, Steven Nation and Alan Burge; three grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other  relatives and friends.
