Zulia Bell (Hudson) McHenry

Zulia Bell Hudson McHenry, 82, of Cartersville, GA passed away on June 23, 2016. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home.

Zulia was the fifth child born to the late Mr. Frank James Hudson and the late Mrs. Bessie W.H. Jones on April 1, 1934. She joined Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church at a young age, where she had a calling for singing as she was a song leader in the church choir. Zulia graduated from Summer Hill High School with the Class of 1954. She met and married Robert (Billy) McHenry and to this union three children were born.

She continued her education at Battey State Hospital in Rome, GA and completed her training to become a nurse. She took pride in having a successful Nursing Career and credited much of her understanding and wisdom as a gift from God, and her loving grandmother who was also a midwife.

Zulia was a fun loving, kind and compassionate person. During her illness she never failed to say “thank you” and “I love you”. Many thanks to all who contributed to her life

Zulia leaves to cherish her memories; children, Bessie McHenry, Rhett (Johnny) Jeffrey (Florine) McHenry, and Tony McHenry; six grandchildren, Tavarus McHenry, Yashica (Alfred) Jackson, Alnisa McHenry, Starhett McHenry, Jordon Stepp, and Cedric Evans; three great grandchildren, Jamari Jackson, Kamora Jackson, and Jayceon Alexander; two sisters, Elvira Williams and Shirley Ann Broadnax, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
