There are day's that I am still in disbelief of Pastor Charles not being here on earth with us. I miss his presence in my office. The smile, long stories, anticipation of sharing the Word with laughter about many and different things. We often talked about cooking which he loved. He called me the BAKER and he was the COOK. My heart is heavy today because around this time 3 to 4 times a week he was coming through the door saying; "hello stranger" as if we haven't seen each other in a long time. UUUhhhhh, I know God knows best.
I was honored the day he asked me to build a website for his son Andre. He could have asked someone more qualified but, he didn't he asked me and for that I am grateful. He made the statement; if I don't do anything else I want him (Andre) to have his own website, amazing. I could go on and on about Pastor Charles my friend.

Judith, Charles, Andre and the family out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I love you with all my heart. When I met Darcell it was as if I had already had conversations with her. Pastor Charles loved his family and we talked about them a lot. The funny stories of growing up etc... Judith I have always admired your poise and the expression of LOVE in your eyes when you looked at your husband, Woman of God. One day you will see him again and know this, heaven is real and he (Pastor Charles, your husband) is very much alive. If you knew Pastor Charles Fluellen you know Dr. Judith Fluellen. He cherished family time he loved his wife and children.
He is missed hear at the WHLB 104.5 FM-LP Radio Station. I have prayed and will continue to pray for your strength. I will never forget my friend, Pastor Charles Fluellen.

Love you,
Pastor Sylvia H. Brodie

It is a blessing to know your family. I met you, Judith and Charles when I became a member of Glory Harvester Church in 1999. You both never cease to express kind words. Although our hearts are heavy from hearing of Pastor Fluellen's passing, our hearts also rejoice because we know that he is alive in Christ. We love you both dearly.

I was very saddened to hear of Charles'' passing.  I live in Texas now, but last June I visited my family in Cartersville.  I was having coffee in Starbucks when Charles walked in.  We sat for a long while and updated each other on our families.  I had not seen Charles since teaching Andre at Montessori.  He spoke with pride about his family. He truly and deeply cared for his family, church, friends, and community.  I know that Cartersville will not be the same without him.  Blessings, prayers, and peace be with you.

I just learned of the death of Charles today and was so shocked.  Words cannot express how sorry I was to hear of his passing.
Charles was a wonderful person.  I first met Charles and your whole family at Dr. Jerry Williams office and would often see Charles around town.  I even saw him at Ryan''''s several years ago and we ate lunch together that day.
He seemed to always have a smile on his face.
I lost my husband in March, 2007 and have since moved back to Chattanooga where my family lives.  I know that Charles will be missed by many, many people.
I am proud to have known your husband and father.

Dear Fluellen family,

What could I possibly add that others haven't already said? Charles was so dearly loved by so many in our community. What a gem of a guy - and a true testiment to what God wants all of us to be....gentle, kind, loving, caring, - all the fruits of the spirit that Charles was so blessed with. I first met him back in the early 90's when he walked into the Etowah Foundation on Wall Street and introduced himself to us. Because of his smooth booming voice, we tried to talk him in to trying out for a musical play we were having at the Grand Theatre but he insisted we'd NEVER want to hear him sing - and we certainly didn't want to see him dance! ;)  Then, one time, while unpacking our car at Tybee Island, I heard Charles' voice from across the parking lot - and sure enough, there you all were (and I believe his mom was with you). It was hard to miss that wonderful voice of his. ;)

Later, you all became our neighbor. That meant that quite often I ran into Charles in the grocery store close to our house, always calling out, "hey neighbor."

He always had a kind word, a great smile and that special laugh to share with everyone. You've all been very blessed to have him as your husband and dad. I pray  God continues to bless each of you as you continue on your own journeys. Charles has left such a wonderful legacy. I praise God for him.
Lovingly,
Marcia and Spencer Dillard

On the behalf of The Grooming Room Barber Salon staff, we are so sorry for the lost of Mr. Charles! I had the honor of cutting his hair and sharing some laughs with in him a few days before the Lord called him home. He held and quieted my 3 month old daughter down while I cut hair. "I don't do this",he said, as he bent over to pick her up. I told him that he must have a good spirit because she doesn't stop crying for no one  but me!
Even my little Angel knew Mr Charles was a good man and we will miss him dearly! He has inspired me with his kind words of wisdom! My prayers are extended to his family.

To Judith, Andre & Charles jr.

From the moment we met you and Charles, we admired you two as a dynamic couple.  We were so blessed to have Andre as part of our family during his time at FSU.  To see him grow up from a wide-eyed freshman to a young man who became a leader of the Seminoles was no surprise thanks to you and Charles.

On behalf of our family and your extended family as FSU, we express our deepest sympathy and prayers to your family.  The only comfort we can receive from this loss is that Charles left an amazing legacy for all to cherish.

Wishing you continued strength and prayers.

No one every explained grieving to us, we just encounter it and ask God to cover us until we are able to bare life without our Loved Ones.

Family, we have had a phenomenal women in our lives Aunt Midge, which instilled on of God''''''''s love into all of us.  Charlie had it, you all have and know what I am speaking of.  Maybe I should have said SUBSTANCE.  Which gives us all something to stand upon.

Today at almost 65 years of age, by todays standards and the meaning of  a dysfunctional family. Well family I guess they would say we were dysfunctional.  BUT GOD! did not allow us  to think so then and now we know that the generational curse has and will continuely be broken.

Hearing about where it happened reminded me of all the the times we had, my brother's Rob, Mike and Steve, and all the other's that played b-ball at Haddiington on 57th St. Hanging out on my parent steps in the summer. I am so sorry to learn of the passing of Charles. I knew Charles over the years and our children attended Cartersville High School together. I respected Charles...he was a kind,
gentle, and warm person, always with a smile, and we often spoke  about our children and what they were involved in. Charles Jr. is one of the best young men I know though I have not seen him in a long time. I think one of the reasons I liked Charles so much was because I saw a lot of me in him.

I am truely saddened by the Fluellen''s lost of Charles. Charles stood for many thing life. All positive. I believe I was one of the first persons to meet Charles when he and his Wife first moved to Cartersville and realized he was a true and generous individual. I received a call from the Department of Labor some thirty (30) years ago that someone needed help unloding a moving van of furniture into there house. It seemed more like a tractor trailor. Charles looked at me and said with his signature smile "Think you can handle it" I briefly stared and said "`Let''s do it". Afterwords he graciouly thanked me. Over the years Charles and I would cross paths and his conversation with me would always start with a Smile, a Thank You, a Handshake, and a Hug and would end with a Bless You. Not only was he uplifting in tone of voice he was truely spiritually uplifting.I have always been forever grateful for knowing such an inspiring gentleman. He surely pacticed his purpose. May GOD continue to bless You and Your family spirit....We will meet again!

Dear Andre and Family,
Your father (Rev. Charles Fluellen, Sr.) crossed my path in the year of 2010.  It was the month of May, the week of Mother’s Day.  While others were planning Mother’s Day celebration, my family was planning my dear Mother’s home going services.  The funeral director worked with the family, and secured the Glory Harvester Church for the memorial service.
Your father, who had recently buried his own mother, your paternal grandmother, was my ‘rock’ as he graciously permitted the Bray family to use the facility.  He shared with me that he had recently buried his mother.  He shared with me advice in order to ‘stay strong’ through the grieving process.
Your father, several months after my mother’s service, approached me at a community function and asked, “How are you doing?”  This opened up an opportunity to share with him this story of an answered prayer.
Several months after my mother died, and during a grievous conversation with God about it, I prayed, “Lord, I wish I had something tangible of my mother’s to just ‘hold on to’ and feel able to feel her presence.”  In the month of August, 2010, four days before her birthday, I was cleaning out personal items in her bedroom.  Something led me to the nightstand where I found a large print, burgundy Bible I had given her for Christmas (1985).  I opened the book, and I found scriptures highlighted, notes in the margins, cartoonist drawings depicting John the Baptist, etc.  I also found newspaper clippings, pictures, personal letters, etc.  I cried as I held the Bible to my chest.  I thanked God and cried tears of joy for the answer to my prayer.  Even today, I truly treasure my mother’s Bible.  I read it often as I allow God to speak to me from its pages.
Your father then shared with me the importance of having his dear mother’s Bible in his possession.  This sharing of a spiritual ‘milestone’ bonded me to your father’s compassionate heart.  I am glad our paths crossed.
May the strong memories of your Father carry you through life, and the love he shared with others will always be a spiritual ‘Legacy’ to continue your spiritual growth.
Love,
Fartema M. (Bray) Fagin

Just a couple weeks ago Mr. and Mrs. Fluellen made a trip to Florida and stopped by my place in Tampa to visit me and Andre. Mr. Fluellen and Andre fished on the pier and enjoyed father and son time.  When they were finished he told me how nice my place was and how proud he was of me. I do not know at the time how much that meant to me. We then ventured off to a "hole in the wall" sushi spot that me and Andre think is AMAZING. Needless to say, both, Mr. and Mrs. Flu thought the exact same thing and we ate in admiration of the Japanese cuisine. During dinner I learned how Mr. Flu lived in Japan for a time while in the military partaking in the different rituals and eating the differnet cuisines.  I was mesmerized at the stories and smiled at the humorous jokes that were being told. We laughed, laughed, and LAUGHED the entire dinner that he almost fell out of the booth! I mean we had a BALL... this was JUST 13 days ago. I believe it was GOD who made them drive to FL, and enjoy their vacation, spend time with me and their sons; There could be NO OTHER REASON! I am at tears right now because I have never felt so welcomed in my life, so loved, so instilled in Christain roots. I am so lucky to have known this man but better yet to be dating his son. I love this family with all my heart. I had to share this story. I will always be here for you all!!!    "This too shall Pass."

Charles was one of the first friends I made when my husband and I relocated to Cartersville 6 years ago. We met at the Open Door Christian Book Store. Charles was wearing an FSU hat and as a avid Seminoles fan, we had a lively conversation revolving around football. As time passed and we became better acquainted we found we shared a mutual devotion to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Conversations with Charles were "iron sharpening iron." We also discovered that be both in Center City Philadelphia at the same time and that was another popular topic of conversation.
Going to Starbucks will no longer be the same. My husband and I knew if we met up the Charles there we would have a great time, deep in discussion on one of our favorite topics.
Charles was so proud of his family and always spoke so highly of them. I have had the pleasure of meeting his wife, Judith. Although I have not met his sons, I feel like I know them. Your dad was so proud of you both and so pleased with what you have both accomplished.
I'll have to wait and catch up with Charles in Heaven, probably over a cup a coffee and a good conversation on what he has discovered there.
God bless you all, you had a very precious husband and father.

Pastor Charles.....

Hearing your voice to your employers
During so many Bartow Transit rides
Not knowing the day is here for us to say unto you
Our final Good-byes

My knowing you was short yet sweet
So, glad the Lord had us to meet

To me it seemed to be a myth
At the mention of your being absent from the body and present with the Lord on February 25th

I'm sure you were a devoted Pastor, Husband, and Father
Now their hearts are rending
Yet we know that God’s Word is there for our mending

A tear falling now as this truth to my spirit resounds
Rev. Charles Fluellen, Sr.  has passed
Not knowing the last time I saw you
Would be my very last

Enter now into the complete JOY of the Lord!
As God embraces you with His Holy Kiss
As we forever hold you near and dear
For you know, you, Pastor Charles, will forever be missed!

I have nothing but great memories of Charles, he was one of the first to greet me when I opened Publix in C''Ville. I will never forget calling him on Christmas Eve years ago because I had hundreds of toys and no one to take them. Charles came within an hour. His old truck was jam packed, he could hardly get in his cab due to toys sticking out the windows. It was funny watching him stop and go from picking up toys that had fallen off the truck. He delivered ALL those toys that same evening. I am a better man for have knowing him. He will missed tremendously.

My wife and I first met Charles at a coffee shop (what a surprise!) when we arrived in Cartersville in 2005. We quickly learned that we shared passions for several things in common: growing up in Philly in the 50's/60's, the foods of Philly, food in general, following the Philadelphia Iggles (Eagles), Florida State Football, among other things.

More importantly, however, we were similarly driven for being the best husband's to our wives and father's to our, now adult, children.

Most importantly, we were passionate about serving God and provoking each other about truths in The Word of God and the truth of The Word of God for our daily lives. Hours  would race by like minutes as we talked about the reality of God's Word, here and now, while occupying Starbucks.

Thank you, Fluellen family for sharing Charles with those of us in the Bartow community!
