Mr. James Alonzo Bridges, 53 of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 19, 2019 at 2:00pm at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 147 Jones Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. The body will lie in state in the church from 1:00pm until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 18, 2019 from 7:00pm - 8:00pm at the Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home, 210 North Bartow Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120.
James was born in Plains, Georgia on November 17, 1965 to the late Walter Robert Bridges and Geneva Bridges. He was educated in the Sumter County School System. During his life in Plains, Georgia he was employed at Joan Pipe Company for six years. James later relocated to Cartersville, Georgia in 1988, here he was employed by Costco and later went to work for Shaw Industries.
James met and married the love of his life Leatha Ann Brown and to this union two children were born, Mr. James Reshad Bridges and Ms. Kierra Bridges. He took pride in being a great husband to his wife, a loving father to his children, and a wonderful uncle to his nieces and nephews.
James hobbies in life were spending time with his family and friends and watching movies.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Bridges, Frank Bridges and Thomas Bridges.
James leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Leatha Ann Bridges; two children, Reshad and Kierra; three brothers, Walter (Dorothy) Bridges, Franklin Bridges and Bobby Bridges; five sisters, Nora Perry, Sarah (Sam) Sims, Mary Bridges, Betty Thompson and Janice Bridges; several brother-in-laws; several sister-in-laws; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, along with a very special friend, Mason Harkness.
