Joseph Romulus White

Mr. Joseph R. White, 90 of Cartersville, Georgia passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 26, 2019. Funeral service will b held on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 11:00am at St. Luke A.M.E. Church, 130 Jones Street, Cartersville, GA 30120. The body will lie in state in the church from 10:00am until the hour of service. Interment will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 10:00am in the Georgia National Cemetery, 2025 Mount Carmel Church Lane, Canton, GA. 30114.

Joseph Romulus White was born in Cartersville, Georgia on August 26, 1928 to the late Madeline Sloan and James White, Sr. He was educated in the Bartow County School System and after leaving school he enlisted in the United States Military.

Joseph served his country in two branches of the military, the United States Marine Corps and the United States Air Force, where he was Honorably Discharged from both. While serving in the military, Joseph was issued the WWII Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

As a child he grew up in the Methodist Church and later began studying other religions and cultures including the Church of Ladder Day Saints. He enjoyed cooking; listening to music, and spending time with his friends. Joseph was a very friendly person and quite the ladies man.

His parents, one brother, James White Jr., preceded Joseph in death.

Joseph leaves to cherish his memory, brother, Willie White; two sisters, Gloria Jean Smith of Riverside, California and Mattie Peterson of Chicago, Illinois; one sister-in-law, Emma Jean White of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
