John Ramsey was born on October 9, 1931 in Cartersville, Georgia to the late Henry Ramsey and Bertha Richards Ramsey. He was educated in the Bartow County School System and graduated from Summer Hill High School. Immediately after graduating , John enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served his country in the Korean War and was honorably discharged. If you ever got into a conversation with John about the military he would tell you he served 3 years, 9 months and 18 days. After returning from the military, John went to work in the paving industry. He worked for Stuart Brothers and retired from C. W. Matthews after many years of service.

John had such a warm and jovial personality; he would have you laughing in a very short time. He was the type of person ; if something needed to be done he would just do it.

He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Frankie North; brothers, Warren "Buddy" Ramsey and Henry Ramsey

Left to cherish his loving memories, his beautiful devoted wife of 62 years, Marie Ramsey; four children, Wanda R. Green, John Ramsey, Jr (Shontella), Henry Ramsey and Paul Ramsey; twelve grandchildren, Monique Ramsey, Caretta Fezzia, Jermaine Jackson, Maya Ramsey, Andrew Ramsey, Brandy Jackson, Gail Banks, Jedidiah Rokins, Noel Ramsey, John Ramsey, III, Diana Green and Isaiah Green; five great grandchildren, Austin, Amaya, Chris, Jermaine, Jr. and Diamond who cared for her great granddaddy on a daily basis. One very special sister who always made sure he was taken care of Annie Florence Canty; two special nieces Patricia Henry and Robyn Ellis. His special friend, McKinley "Cowboy" Pruitt, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
