Mr. Lee Shield Elliott, aka "Byrd" and "Byrd Man", 68 of Kingston, Georgia passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2019.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 16, 2019 at 1:00pm at New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 85 Shaw Street, Kingston, Georgia 30145. The body will lie in state in the church from 12:00pm (noon) until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Kingston Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 15, 2019 from 6:00pm - 7:00pm at the Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home , 210 North Bartow Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120.
On Friday, December 6, 2019 our beloved father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend Lee Shield “Byrd-Man” Elliott stepped from this world over the threshold into his heavenly home of Eternity.
Lee was born on November 1, 1951 to the late Robert Elliott, Sr. and Alene Stephens Elliott in Kingston, Georgia. He received his early education in the Bartow County School System, graduating from Cass High School with the Class of 1969.
After graduating Byrd join the Job Corps where he travelled with them for several years. Byrd decided to further his education, enrolling into Chattahoochee Technical College to receive his certification in Management.
Byrd was employed with Cobb General Hospital in the maintenance department until he retired. After retiring he accepted a job with Lockheed managing the maintenance department. Byrd started his own cleaning business and was very successful at it.
Lee was a faithful member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Kingston, Georgia, where he served in many capacities. He loved helping in the community and keeping the grounds cleaned at the Kingston Cemetery. Byrd was an outgoing, loving and caring person and if there was something that needed to be done and he couldn’t do it, he would definitely find someone that could
Byrd’s favorite pastime was playing softball, working in the garden, watching sports and westerns on television.
Byrd loved getting dressed up on Sunday and attending church while listening to the gospel music being played on the radio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather Tommy Stephens (Pop); brother, Billy Earl McClure; and sister, Jeanie Bell Stewart.
Byrd leaves to cherish his memory, his two loving sons, Rico Montez Elliott (Quintella) and Rhadarius Terez Elliott; grandson, Jace Zhmir Elliott; sisters, Alice Faye Larkin and Jeannie Elliott-Pitts Lovingood (Warren); brothers, Bobby Elliott (Linda), Robert Elliott Jr., (Mary), Special brother, Hershel Elliott (Lavinia), Troy Elliott and William Elliott (Darlene); a very special and loving friend Mrs. Larie Edward Elliott; special friends, Ricky Hill, Jimmy Scott and Taiwan Taylor; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
