Mr. Willie Dwight Thomas

Mr. Willie Dwight Thomas, 60, of Canton, Georgia passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2020.

Service for Mr. Thomas will be held Saturday, January 11, 2020, 1:00 P.M. at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 390 Crisler Street, Canton, Georgia 30114.  He will lie in-state from 12:00 P.M. until the hour of service.  Interment will follow the service at Cherokee Memorial Park, 120 Memorial Park, Canton, Georgia 30114.  The family will receive friends on Friday, January 10, 2020 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Mack Eppinger & Sons Funeral Home, 210 N. Bartow Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120.

Mr. Thomas was born on January 11, 1959, in Canton, Georgia to Mrs. Marian and Mr. Charlie Thomas.  Growing up, Dwight spent a lot of time playing sports with his cousins and his older brother, Rickey.  He attended Cherokee High School where excelled in basketball.

Dwight worked for General Motors for several years and for the past ten years he worked for Pilgrim's Pride in Canton, Georgia.  Dwight enjoyed spending time with his family; which, included his son, Brian and his granddaughter Myah. He also treasured his fishing trips to Alabama with his younger brother, Jeffery.  He was an exceptional fisherman and loved hosting the annual fish fry with their haul (crappie) from the day.

Dwight will be missed by his loved ones, but we are glad that he is no longer in pain.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Marian; his brother, Rickey; and his son, Brian.

Dwight is survived by his father, Charlie (Eloise); sister, Valerie; brother, Jeffery; granddaughter, Myah; stepdaughters, Erica, Marissa, and Kim; nieces, Alysia, Ashley, Whitney & Tiffany; and host of great-nieces & great-nephews, cousins, loved ones and friends.
