Mrs. Clara Ruth (Perkinson) Ayers

Mrs. Clara Ruth Ayers, 74, of Cartersville, Georgia passed Thursday, July 13, 2017 surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Service for Mrs. Ayers will be held Friday, July 21, 2017, 2:00 P.M. at Damascus Missionary Baptist Church, 174 Gaston Westbrook Avenue, Emerson, Georgia 30137.  She will lie in-state from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service.  Interment will follow the service at Liberty Hill Cemetery, Acworth, Georgia.  The family will receive friends at Mack Eppinger & Sons Funeral Home on Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

On July 13, 2017, God sent his angels for Mrs. Clara Ruth Ayers to be with him in a place of peace.  Clara was born July 29, 1942 to the late Annie and Erwin Perkinson.  She grew up in Emerson, Georgia where she met and married Hugh Ayers, and to this union six children were born.  The couple resided in Acworth and later move to Cartersville, where she lived until her passing.  

Clara joined Damascus Baptist Church at a young age and remained a faithful member until her passing.  She worked at Cartersville City Pawn until her retirement in 2016.  Clara was loved by many, and was known to most as Mama Clara.  She was a kind gentle woman who helped anyone any way she could.  She will be truly missed, but greatly remembered. 

Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Ayers; mother and father, Annie & Ervin Perkinson; mother-in-law, Verbie Ayers; brothers, Jeffery Perkinson and Terry Johnson; and grandchildren, Shakeila and Rodricas (Rico) Ayers. 

She leaves to cherish her memory her six children, Alecia (special son Bill), Bruce (Brenda), Jacqueline (special son Alvis), Judy, Clayton, and Tywona; stepson, Scottie Holmes; sisters and brothers, Louise Mcgregor (Leon), Ervin Perkinson, Larry Perkinson (Glenda), Eloise Houston, Hattie Hernandez (Paul), Amos Perkinson (Tara), and Pricilla Perkinson; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; special niece, Cynthia Echols; best friend, Helen Duster, and host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
