Mrs. Elizabeth Ann (Henderson) Jones

Elizabeth Ann Jones, 87, of Cartersville, GA passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 11:00am at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 147 Jones Street, Cartersville, GA. 30120. The body will lie in state at the church from 10:00am until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 30, 2017 from 7:00pm – 8:00pm at the Mack Eppinger and Son Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Ann Henderson Jones was the fifth child of Henry and Nannie Sue Henderson, born on January 5, 1930. During her formative years, she worked and played with her seven siblings. She was educated in the Summer Hill School System.

Elizabeth Henderson met and married a young, handsome soldier named Marvin Jones shortly after his return from the Korean War, on December 20, 1947.  They were married for 65 years and to this union seven children were born; Phyllis Dianne, Marvin Steven, Terry Lamar, Pamela Elaine, Sara Elizabeth, Vincent Kyle and Ryle.

Elizabeth was a model example of the Proverbs 31 woman.  She lovingly tended to her husband, children, home and extended family.  She made clothes for herself and for her children, and blessed many others with her handmade ladies handkerchiefs and charitable giving. But the thing that she loved the most was studying the Bible and sharing it with others. She and Marvin invited people into their home to share the gospel and they also made it a priority to tell others that they knew or met about the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ. 

She leaves to mourn in her passing and to celebrate the Godly legacy that she left her children; Terry (Brenda) Jones, Pamela Dennis, Sara Tiggs, “Vincent” Kyle (Candace) Jones; a very special friend and sister in-law, Betty Phene Henderson; grandchildren, James (Alison) Young III, Tammy Young, Kevin (LaSharn) Jones, Keith Jones, Terry Jones II (Erica), Tyler Jones, Jasmine Jones, Dexter (Joy) Tiggs II, Amber Tiggs, Joshua Tiggs, Jessica Tiggs, Desirrae (Patrick) Dennis Johnson and Harold Dennis Jr.; sister in-laws Betty Henderson McAfee and Mamie Henderson; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
