Mrs. Mamie Lee Henderson, affectionately known as ‘Mamie Lou’, departed this life and gained her eternal wings on Sunday, April 8, 2018.  Mamie Lou was born on January 28, 1948 to the late Cleve Scott, Sr. and Catherine Long Scott.  She was educated in the Summer Hill School System in Cartersville, Georgia.  Mamie was a hard worker and was formerly employed by Nantucket Industries and Sunbridge Nursing Home as a dietician.  She was also the owner and operator of a daycare center in Long Island, New York.

Being of strong faith, Mamie accepted Christ at an early age.  A member of Global Harvest Fellowship and Greater New Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, Mamie served the Lord until her passing.  She loved gospel music, praising the Lord, and family fun.  Her favorite song was “Stand Still Jordan”.

Mamie touched many lives during her 70 years on earth.  Never meeting a stranger, she had an outgoing personality and believed in showing love to everyone she met.  Mamie will remain in our hearts as a loving wife, mother, grandma, aunt, cousin, and friend.  She was the epitome of agape love and will be greatly missed.

Mamie was preceded in death by her late husbands, Elijah Carson, III, David Byrd, and Arthur Henderson; daughter, Aretha Carson; sisters, Mary Washington, Malinda Wells, and Shirley Sellers, and brother, Cleve Scott, Jr.

She leaves to celebrate her life, her children, Mayor Kenneth Carson (Cecilia) of Adairsville, Georgia, Felicia Bell (Melvin, Sr.) and Elijah Carson, IV (Stephanie) both of Cartersville, Georgia, Tanya Byrd of Tampa, Florida, and Natalie Byrd of New York; seventeen grandchildren, Ashley Carson, Keplin Carson, Kenneth Carson, II, Warren Carson, Shanaeuh Byrd, Janaeuh Woodard, Melvin Bell, Jr., E.J. Carson, V, Danta Carson, Katelynn Carson, Marquetta Reece, Kennedy Rose Carson, Tyrell Byrd, Jarred Byrd, Brandon Byrd, Tiffany Byrd, and David Byrd; blessed to see great grandchildren join her lineage, Jaron, Na’Kiya, Zymearch, Zendaya, Thomas B. Montrel, and Isaiah Carson, Omarion Cook, and Nyla Bell; brother, Edward Scott (Patsy) of Adairsville, Georgia; sister, Annie Harris (Lewis) of Adairsville, Georgia and Catherine Mitchell of Cartersville, Georgia; uncle, Willie D. Long of Cartersville, Georgia, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loved ones and friends.
