Mrs. Viola Wilkins, 97 of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on Monday, June 17, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 11:00am at Oak Hill Cemetery, 319 North Erwin Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 21, 2019 from 6:00pm - 8:30pm at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 147 Jones Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120.
Mrs. Viola Wilkins was born in Cartersville, Bartow County, Georgia, October 7, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Robert Sloan Sr. and Mary Ann Bright Sloan.
Viola joined in holy matrimony to James Charles Neal Sr. To this union two children were born, James Charles Neal, Jr., and Velma Ann Neal. She later married Eddie James Wilkins. To this union six children were born; Barbara Slack, Edith Hinton, Ruth Hill, Christine W. Johnson, Dr. Janie Wilkins, Eddie L. Wilkins. Viola was blessed to be a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.
Viola joined Mount Zion Baptist Church at an early age. She also enjoyed attending church services at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and partnering with ministries throughout the United States. She will always be remembered for her love of God and for her faith filled words of God and His promises.
Her time of leisure included reading spiritual literature, eating her favorite foods, riding her stationary bicycle up to the age of 97 and celebrating life with love and gratitude. Her moments of joy were magnified with matching outfits, flowers and whatever she desired on special occasions from her children and friends.
Viola would often thank her medical team with praise and gratitude for keeping her up and going until the Lord called her home.
She was preceded in death by husbands, James C. Neal Sr., and E. James Wilkins; four brothers, John Willie, Robert, Luther and James Henry; two sisters, Thelma Woods and Ruth Williams, and one grandson, Arthur Hinton.
Viola leaves to cherish her loving memory; six daughters, Velma Ann Neal, Barbara J. Slack, Edith Hinton, Ruth C. Hill, Christine W. Johnson, and Dr. Janie Wilkins; two sons, James C. Neal Jr. and Eddie Lee Wilkins; eighteen grand children, twenty three great grand children, ten great-great grand children and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
