WILLIAM CECIL MCCONNELL, JR.

Mr. William Cecil McConnell, Jr., 67, of Cartersville, GA. passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017.

Service for Mr. McConnell will be held Monday, September 18, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Luke A.M.E. Church, 130 Jones Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120.  Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.  The body will lie in state at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 17, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home.

William “Cecil” McConnell, Jr. was born February 20, 1950 to the late Lillie Corene McConnell and William McConnell, Sr.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas McConnell and a sister, Helen Jean Shaw.

Cecil attended Summer Hill High School and completed culinary school.  He was owner of First Class Maid Service and worked various other jobs throughout his short life.  He was a devoted member of St. Luke AME Church where he served diligently until his untimely death.  He served faithfully on the Kitchen Committee, and the Soup Kitchen.

Cecil had a passion for cooking and opened his heart to feed everyone.  He loved to fish, hunt, but most of all he cherished and adored his children and grandchildren.  Cecil had a commanding personality, good sense of humor, and never met a stranger.

Cecil leaves to cherish his loving wife of 40 years, Erma M. McConnell; children, Marcus (Contrina) McConnell, Sonya McCoy, Demetrius McClure, Dorian (Stacy) McClure; a special niece, Nicole Reed; twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Carreathers, Vicki Towns and Sharon (Woodrow) Wilson; brothers, James (Glenda) Howard, Stanley McConnell, J.D. (Martha) McConnell, Nelson (Thelma) McConnell; aunt, Laura Akins, and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
