Mrs. Willie Jean Shaw, 79, of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 2:00pm at Alexander Chapel United Methodist Church, 609 M.L.K. Jr. Drive, Cartersville, GA 30121. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden. The body will lie in state in the church from 1:00pm until the hour of service. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 6:00pm - 7:00pm at the Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home.
Willie Jean also known as "Granny", was born on April 4, 1938 , in Cartersville, Georgia to the late William Frank Carter and Jessie Melvie Carter. She joined Alexander Chapel United Methodist Church at an early age where she served in various roles and was recently celebrated as the "Oldest Female Member" of the congregation. Willie Jean was a long-time employee of Spring City Knitting located in Cartersville, Georgia. During her 15 year career with Spring City, she was known as a hard worker and was recognized for never missing a single day of work.
Willie Jean loved to inspire everyone around her and rarely missed an opportunity to mail a card in celebration of any occasion. When she wasn't busy playing in costume jewelry or listening to gospel music, Willie Jean enjoyed attending the Senior Center, watching Tyler Perry movies, completing word-search puzzles, and spending time with family.
Left to cherish her memories; daughter, Teresa Dianne Shaw-Brown; nephew, Joe Frank Carter,Jr.; beloved family members, Hugh "Kenny" Brown, Kanneya Brown, Kenneth De'Shad Brown and Kendricke Brown; four grandchildren, Kyahna, Khian, Kamarion and Khamya Brown, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
