Mr. Alfred Richard McKenzie, 85 of Augusta, Georgia passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022 at Doctor's Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 3:00PM at St. Luke A.M.E.Church,130 Jones Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. The body will lie in state in the church from 2:00PM until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, 319 N. Erwin Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. Please keep him family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement.
Due to COVID-19 regulations and guidelines, physical distancing practices will be in place, and VACCINATIONS AND MASK ARE REQUIRED for those that will be attending the service. The family is the main concern during this time of bereavement and space will be limited. We have to ensure the family is able to attend the service, so there is a possibility of some friends not being admitted. However, the service will be LIVE-STREAMED.
Alfred R. McKenzie of Belair Hills in Augusta, Georgia passed away on May 2, 2022 at Doctor's Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. He was born on September 9, 1936, in Cartersville, Georgia. McKenzie retired from the United States Army in the early 70's as a Sergeant First Class. He went on to have a nearly two decade career with the South Carolina Electric and Gas Company.
Sergeant First Class McKenzie is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Dr. Robetta McKenzie; his daughter, Janice McKenzie-Crayton (Pernell); granddaughters, Janell (Liberty), Carrie Rose of Atlanta; as well as his brother ,Joe McKenzie (Mary) of El Cerrito, CA; and sister-in-law, Rosetta Strickland. He was loved by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, mentees, friends and extended family.
McKenzie will be funeralized with full military honors at 3:00PM , Saturday, May 7, 2022 at St. Luke A.M.E. Church, 130 Jones Street, Cartersville, GA . There will also be a burial at Oak Hill Cemetery and Repass at the church.
