Annie Florence Canty acknowledged the sound of God beckoning her rest from her labors and the cares of this world. She passed away on December 1, 2023 at Cartersville Nursing and Healing Center surrounded by her loved ones. Annie was blessed to see the beautiful age of 94. She lived her adult life in Cartersville, Georgia, creating a host of family and friends who held her in high esteem.
Annie was born on December 26, 1928 in Rowland Springs, Georgia to the late Henry and Bertha Richards Ramsey. She received her education in the Summer Hill School. Annie retired from Spring City after twenty-six years. She was an untiring member and essential mother on the Mother’s Board of St. Luke A.M.E Church, as well as a faithful member of the senior choir.
Annie loved to bake and garden. One could also find her giving her words of advice and wisdom to a young person, on which way they should go. She was an amazing woman. Annie was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. There is no doubt that her sweet and witty presence will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Bertha and Henry Ramsey. Sr., she was preceded in death by her loving husband, J.L. Canty; two daughters, Patricia Canty Henry and Jamie Ramsey Simpson; one sister, Frankie North; three brothers, Warren “Buddy” Ramsey, Henry Ramsey, Jr., and John Ramsey, Sr., and one son-in-law, Ray C Henry.
Survivors include her loving grandchildren, Natasha Henry, Patrick Henry, Jimmy Nesbitt, Renee Kirkland, and Rachel Henry; ten great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Marie Ramsey and Lula Speights; two special nieces, Lisa Speights Jackson and Wanda Ramsey Green; dear friend, Ruth Ann West; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loved ones and friends.
