Mrs. Annie Ruth Edwards, 83, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Oak Hill Cemetery, 319 North Erwin Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120.

Due to COVID-19 regulations and guidelines, physical distancing practices will be in place, and  MAKS ARE REQUIRED for those that will be attending the service. The family is the main concern during this time of bereavement and space will be limited. We have to ensure that the family is able to attend so there is a possibility of some friends not being admitted. However, the service will be LIVE-STREAMED.


On January 28, 2021, Annie Ruth Edwards slipped softly into a deep sleep only to wake up in a better place. Leaving all pain and suffering behind for eternal peace. She was born in Cartersville, Georgia on November 24, 1937, to the late Amanda Winn and the late Raymond Johnson. Annie Ruth professed her love for Christ at an early age while attending church with
her grandmother Charlotte Johnson. She graduated from Summer Hill High School in Cartersville, Georgia. On May 8, 1959, Annie Ruth married Hillmus to this union nine children were born.

Due to her husband being in the United States Navy, they traveled to Rhode Island and Virginia. They later made a home in Jacksonville, Florida. Annie Ruth worked as a cook at Ayers Restaurant for over 10 years. She was known for her southern cooking and her love for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, sister-in-law, and friend who had the biggest and most caring heart. As a result of her generous spirit and sweet personality, her influence will forever remain in the lives who were blessed to know her.


She was proceeded in death by her husband,Hillmus Edwards; daughter Vanessa Edwards, both parents; brother Henry Johnson; sister Laverne Speights; and guardians Carl and Lula Rodgers. 
She leaves cherish her fond memories daughters ,Aquanetta Edwards of Atlanta, GA, Cecilia Edwards and Camillia (Harry) Richardson of Jacksonville, FL.;sons Christopher Lamar (April) Edwards, Ronald Edwards, Donald Edwards, James (Sherry) Edwards all of Jacksonville, FL, and Dewayne (Kelley) Edwards of Dallas, GA.; twenty-five grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Andrew (Betty) Weems of Compton, CA and Donald Johnson of Cartersville, GA,;sisters, Eunice Cunningham of Brooklyn, NY and Sandra Johnson of Cartersville, GA; sister-in-law Ruby Jean (David) Jones of Cartersville, GA, special cousins Gloria (Robert) Curtis of Adairsville, GA and Carl “Lonnie” Rodgers of Cartersville, GA; longtime friends Betty West and Tina King of Jacksonville, FL, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
