Betty Phene Henderson was born on April 10, 1937 to the late Horace Cooley and Ida Belle Dorsey Cooley. She is the 7th child of 12 children born to this union. Betty was educated in the Bartow County School System and graduated from Summer Hill High School with the class of 1956. Betty enjoyed gardening, canning and spending quality time with her family. She was a faithful member of Highpoint Christian Tabernacle in Smyrna, Georgia where she was one of the Mothers of the church until her health declined. She then enjoyed the online church service at home. Betty never met a stranger and anyone who had a conversation with her would hear her famous greeting "Praise the Lord, Jesus loves you and so do I!" She got great joy from witnessing to everyone she encountered by asking them if everyone they'd received the good, sweet Holy Ghost. She epitomized love and people were instantly drawn to her because she had a way of making everyone feel like family. Betty was a Prayer Warrior, Intercessor, and a true woman of God who lived her life as a testament to His Goodness.
Betty was employed with several employers during her lifetime. She worked at the Cartersville Country Club, Spring City Knitting (formally E-Z Mills), and Cloverleaf Elementary School. She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Horace Jr. Cooley, Hubert Cooley, Catherine Cooley Hardy, James Cooley, Glen Cooley, and Elmer Jo Cooley; her late husband, Oatha Henderson Sr.; daughter, Cynthia Ann Carter; grandsons, Jason Alec Wheeler and Charles Edward Alexander, Jr.; and her son-in-law, James Alvin Wheeler.
She leaves her cherished memories to her children; Marsha (Charles) Alexander, Janice Wheeler, Cathy Taylor (Tony Sr.), Oatha Henderson, Jr. (Terri), Pearlie Carson (Johnny,Sr.), Will Henry Henderson, and Sylvia (Rodney) Chester; fifteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; siblings; Earlene Livsey, Columbus, GA., Ralph (Barbara) Cooley, Newington, NH., Perry (Emma) Cooley, Cartersville, GA., William Carey Cooley, Cartersville, GA., and Levon Ward, Cartersville, GA., and a host of other family relatives and friends.
Special thanks to caregivers; Arvilla Buggs, Valarie Coleman, and Trinity Hospice Care.
Due to COVID-19 regulations and guidelines, physical distancing practices will be in place, and MASK ARE REQUIRED for those that will be attending the service. The family is the main concern during this time of bereavement and space will be limited. We have to ensure the family is able to attend the service, so there is a possibility of some friends not being admitted.
