Carrie Robinson Obituary

Ms. Carrie Lou Robinson, aka "SHAG", 82 of Cartersville, Georgia passed away peacefully on Friday, July 25, 2025 at WellStar Kennestone Hospital surrounded by her loving family. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 12:00 P.M. (Noon) at New Hope Baptist Church, 235 Henry Mack Hill Road, Rydal, Georgia 30171.Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement. This service will NOT BE LIVE STREAMED.

Carrie Lou Robinson was born in Rydal, Georgia on July 30,1942 to Mr. Curry and Julia Ann Jones. She was a loving wife and mother who cherished her family, friends, and community.

Affectionately known as “Shag”, she had a loving part in rearing family members. There was always room for one more in her heart.  Carrie lived a fulfilling life that included travels to Germany, Hawaii, and across the country.  One thing for sure, she would always be focused on her favorite past time, Word Search!  

Carrie was well educated at Tuskegee University located in Alabama.  She was Valedictorian for her class at Summer Hill School, Cartersville, Georgia. She held prominent roles at B.F. Goodrich, Georgia Power, and served as Executive Paralegal for Supreme Justice Robert Benham, Cartersville, Georgia for several years.  She retired as Community Services Coordinator at Tallatoona CAP, Inc. Cartersville, Georgia where she managed the community energy assistance program for over 20 years. 

Since her retirement, Carrie and her sister, Lilla, enjoyed their remaining time living together in Cartersville, Georgia enjoying each other’s company and all of the visitors that came by their way to say hello.  They were quite a dynamic duo!!

Carrie Robinson is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Curry Jones; siblings, Marion Jones and Curry Jones Jr. both of Akron, Ohio; Rosemary Williams of Jacksonville, Florida; James Hughes of Canton, Georgia; Mary Daniels of Cartersville, Georgia; Roberta Green of Pasadena, California; Lilla Watts of Cartersville, Georgia and David Jones of Canton, Ohio. 

Carrie leaves to cherish her loving memory former husband, Cecil Robinson (Eyvette) of Austell, Georgia; her sons, Eric Robinson (Chrystal) of Acworth, Georgia and Coby Robinson of Jonesboro, Georgia; sister, Sarah Freeman (Jones) of Canton, Ohio ; a special sister, Adrienne Breland “Buttons” of Brooklyn, New York; her grandchildren, Blake Robinson and Chastity Robinson of Acworth, Georgia;  special nieces, Kerri Johnson of Cartersville, Georgia, DeQuana Ellis of Carrollton, Georgia; like a special daughter, Stacy Davis of Youngstown, Ohio,  and a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives she loved dearly.  A special thanks to those who were loving caregivers and supported Carrie along her journey which would include Norman Moore, Jackie Robinson, Jan Wilson, Mrs. Leachman, and many other special friends.
