Catherine Gayle Hutchins was born to the late Frank and Dessie Crews on September 24, 1951, in Columbus, Ohio. She was educated in the Cobb County School System. After graduating from Marietta High School in 1969, she furthered her education as a Phlebotomist and Medical Technician.
She worked in several hospitals, clinics, laboratories, the Red Cross and finally closing her career with LifeSouth. Even after all that and retiring she continued to work caring for people and working a part-time job at Home Depot in the gardening department.
Catherine started her Christian development at an early age by attending Holsey Chapel CME Church in Marietta, Georgia with her sister and maternal grandparents, Buford and Sally Allen. She later transferred her membership to Gallie Missionary Baptist Church also in Marietta, Georgia. She believed in the Word of God and never met a stranger. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends, co-workers, or strangers.
Her hobbies were gardening, making quilts, cooking for her family and friends, and purposefully studying the Word of God by writing in her journals and taking many notes on scripture.
We thank God for sharing “Auntie Gayle” to some; “Grandma Gayle” to others; “Catfish “ to a few more, but she will always be “My Sister” to Priscilla.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, James Clements; two stepchildren Bernard Hutchins and Sheila Morris; sister, Priscilla Heard; seven grandchildren, De’Anthony, Ashley, Antionette, Rayshawn, Nancy, London and Cam; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends, and many others who loved her.
