Mrs. Charlene Shaw Perkinson, 68, of Emerson, Georgia passed away quietly on Thursday, June 25, 2020.
Charlene “Chally” Perkinson was born April 12,1952 in Cartersville, GA to the late Mr. and Mrs. George (Lula Frances) Shaw. She was the 9th of 10 children.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Reverend Willie H. Perkinson on August 24, 1969. To this union one daughter was born. They raised their daughter Martina Perkinson along with their great-niece, Sierra Glenn as their own.
Charlene was a sweet woman, devoted wife and loving mother. She was a dedicated Christian and loved her husband of whom she called “babe”. In her early years, she enjoyed bowling and playing soft ball. She worked at Union Carbide, later known as First Brand for many years until she became disabled. After which she began her passion of decorating and even tried her hand at Wedding Coordinator.
She was a member of Damascus Missionary Baptist Church in Emerson, GA until becoming the First Lady of Second Baptist Church in Summerville, GA. While at Damascus she often hosted the Easter Egg Hunt at their home. She taught Sunday School to the teens. They would often take trips to visit people at the nursing homes, ironically at the same one that would later become her home. Although bed-ridden, she continued to have an uplifting spirit and a smile on her face.
