Christopher Matthew Harris, Sr. affectionately known as "Matt" was born on April 12, 1965 in Sparta, Georgia to the late Doshia Harris and Horace Wilson. When Matt was a baby the family relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where he matriculated through the Atlanta Public School System. Matt gave his life to Christ at an early age around five years old. Mother Harris made sure her children attended church regularly.
It was through his brother Kelvin that Matt met his first love, with whom he had a daughter, Felicia. After re-directing his life to Christ and moving to Cartersville; Matt met Freda Johnson who would later become his wife. To the union , a son was born, Christopher, Jr.
Matt made a career working with heavy equipment. He helped construct several well-known buildings around Atlanta; one being the Georgia Dome. He later became a Plant Operator for C.W. Matthews where he mixed the asphalt for the roads on which we all drive. He left the organization several years ago to take care of his mother -in-law who was ill.
Matt was just like his mother in a lot of ways. He never met a stranger, he would give you the shirt off his back even if he had just met you, and he fed EVERYONE!! While he liked getting his hands dirty, he could also be a very dapper man and was often the life of the party. He definitely knew how to have a good time.
He is preceded in death by his father, Horace Wilson; mother, Doshia Harris and brother, Larry Harris.
He leaves to cherish his memory; wife, Freda Harris; daughter, Felicia (Jerome) Westpoint of Stockbridge, GA.; son, Christopher Harris, Jr. of Cartersville, GA.; granddaughters, Aniya and Amorri Wilkins; brothers, Johnny (Valencia) Harris of Atlanta, GA., Alvin (Jackie) Harris of Richland, SC., Dwight Harris of Cartersville, GA., Jarvis (Vater) Harris of Rex,GA. and Kelvin (Angela) Harris of Atlanta, GA.; sister, Priscilla Harris of Atlanta, GA.; special sister-in-law, Donna ; special niece, Kenya Butts; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
No matter his faults, DADDY had a heart of GOLD and will truly be missed.
