Mr. Claude Anthony Green II, 71, of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on Friday, July 1st, 2022. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 7th, 2022 at 12:00 P.M. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 668 Burnt Hickory Road, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. The body will lie in state in the church from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Claude Anthony Green II, aka Hadacol “Tony”, was born in Carterville, Georgia to the late Claude Green Sr. and Annie Cornelius Green. He was educated in the Bartow County School System and attended Summer Hill High School, participating on the basketball team. He led a march protesting support of the school system maintaining leadership of black principal Professor Morgan. He continued his education in Newark, New Jersey while following his stance as an activist for black inclusion and graduating from Hamilton High School, Los Angeles, California. Tony was a free-spirited man allowing him to plant his feet in Hawaii, Colorado, Germany and Australia calling them all home. He saw the world as a place to explore and not be complacent. Many expressed he had a charming smile, never meeting a stranger “Mr. Personality” and modeled living life judgment free. Throughout his life he experienced many religions and ultimately accepting God expressing his thankfulness for allowing him the life he lived while living it his way he stated, “God allowed him to do it all without fear and kept him”.
Claude was preceded in death by sister Peggy Ann Green and brother Allen Leslie Green.
He leaves to cherish his memory; daughter, Sara Vattes of Germany; son, Martez Jackson of Rome, Georgia and five granddaughters; sisters, Ernestine Edwards, Glenda Darby (Dwight), June Williams (Darrell), Gwen Wheeler, Linda Benham (Steven); brothers, John T. Green, Lamar Green (Gloria) and Terry Green; a special friend Patricia Bivins, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
