Dexter Landers Nettles was born on December 21, 1961, in Rockmart, Georgia (Polk County), to the late Estella Blanche Nettles and Arthur Nettles.

On Saturday, July 26, 2025, Dexter unexpectedly departed this life at the age of 63. He was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church in Rydal, Georgia. Dexter had a magnetic personality—his bright smile and warm spirit naturally drew people in. He loved spending time with his family and was especially thrilled about the upcoming birth of his new grandbaby. One thing about Dexter: he always kept it real. He was a man of his word— if he said he was going to do something, you could count on him to follow through.

Dexter was a dedicated employee of Mohawk Industries, where he worked as a forklift driver for 30 years. He had plans to retire from the company, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and reliability.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Priscilla Nettles; his parents, Estella and Arthur Nettles; and his grandmother, Annie Bell Blanche.

Dexter leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his three devoted children: LeQuentin Harshaw, Marissa Barrett, and Daniel Barrett; one beloved daughter-in-law, De-Lana

Harshaw; three sisters: Linda Stocks, Lisa Nettles, and Darlene Bachus; and his in-laws, Georgia and Larry Pettigrew, Vanessa and Ronald Weems, Rosebud Owens, Billy Barrett, and Ida Marie

McAfee. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Kayla Forsyth, Ashanti Harshaw, Christine Harshaw, Aubree Barrett, Karter McClendon, and Oliver Barrett; and a great-grandfather to four: MaKalynn Alford, Akira Alford, Amon Forsyth, and Artavious Alford Jr. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever remember his love, loyalty, and laughter.
