Mrs. Dorothy Mae Richards Carson, 81 of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. A Private Family Service will be held for the family at Providence Cemetery. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement.
Dorothy Mae Carson was born on April 13, 1940 to the late Lucy Pearl and Luther Lee Richards in Cartersville, Georgia. She was educated in the Bartow County School System attending Summer Hill High School and graduating with the Class of 1957.
Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Mt. Zion Grassdale Baptist Church where she spent many years working various duties for the church.
Dot loved children; she spent time taking care of her children while raising her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For many years as the children got ready for school and headed for the bus stop, Dot would line them up according to their height before they could get on the bus.
She was a dedicated worker and was employed at several of the manufacturing mills here in Cartersville, Georgia; such as Dan Rivers Carpet, Cartersville Spinning and Mirello Manufacturing.
Dorothy was honored by Cartersville High School as a Hurricane Hero. She loved attending football games and being a woman of God who would always quote "Faith without works is dead."
She is preceded in death by her brothers; Luther Richards, Will Richards and Joseph Richards.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her loving memories; children, Cathy Miles, Charles Donell Henderson, Louise Marie Henderson, John Henderson, and Cynthia Carson; grandchildren, Renada Miles, Lee Miles (Sarah) and T.L. Winters; great-grandchildren, Antoine Jefferson and Andrea Jefferson; great-great-grandchildren, Nia Lee and Kia Jefferson; sisters, Ruth Ann Hendricks of Indiana, Nedia (Frank) Gary and Denise McLusky; nephews, Shawn (Shameka) Gary, Quinton (Jada) Gary; Marcus "Tank" Gary, Caleb Gary, Elijah (Boss Hog) Gary and ; her longtime partner Ervin (Tick) Perkinson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
