Douglas Lamar Garnigan, Sr was born July 12, 1951 in Cartersville, Georgia to the late Coleman Garnigan and Mary Garnigan. He was educated in the Cartersville City School System graduating from Cartersville High School in 1970. He was an avid sportsman, and was exceptional in basketball.  Marlo as he was called by all that knew him was very family orientated. Family was his number one priority. While attending Cartersville High School Marlo was offered four basketball scholarships, but he made the decision to stay home and take care of his family.

After graduation Marlo became employed with the State of Georgia Department of Transportation where he worked for many years as a truck driver. Entertaining family and friends was one the things that he loved to do. His smile lit up a room and when Marlo was around you can bet there was laughter.

Douglas is preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Garnigan and Larry Garnigan.

Marlo will forever be loved and remembered by his loyal and devoted wife of thirty-three years , Sandra Garnigan; two sons, Anthony (Helen) Davis and Douglas (Andrea) Garnigan, Jr; five grandchildren, Charmaine Davis, O'Shea Davis, Madasia Garnigan, Deisee Davis and Denver Garnigan; siblings, David (Shirley) Garnigan and Marsha (Derrick) Underwood; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
