Mr. Douglas Eugene Ross, 75, of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on Friday, October 29, 2021 at Redmond Regional Medical Center, Rome, Georgia surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 11:00AM at Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home Chapel, 210 North Bartow Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. The body will lie in-state in the chapel from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery, 165 Old Tennessee Rd SE, Cartersville, Georgia 30121. Due to COVID-19 regulations and guidelines, physical distancing practices will be in place, and MASK ARE REQUIRED for those that will be attending the service. The family is the main concern during this time of bereavement and space will be limited. We have to ensure the family is able to attend, so there is a possibility of some friends not being admitted.
Douglas Eugene Ross was born on July 7, 1946 to the late Edward and Ollie Ross. He was the third of five children. While Douglas may have been born in Marietta, Georgia he later moved to Cartersville, Georgia where he spent the majority of his 75 years on earth.
He was educated in the Marietta Cobb County School System. He worked with LC Moore Cleaning Services for a few years and later went to work at the Cartersville Housing Authority where he eventually retired after several years of hard work and service.
Once established in Cartersville, Douglas met and married the former Ms. Deborah "Punkin" Knox, whom he spent 28 years of marriage with prior to her passing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ollie Ross; wife, Deborah; brothers, Edward Ross Jr. and Steve Ross; sister, Rosie Lee Ross-Hood; and son, Chris Ross.
Those left to look ahead and rely on the promises of GOD, who doeth all things well are; daughters, Niece Ross and Sharon Ross of Marietta, Georgia;sons, Keith Knox (Cynthia) of Euharlee, Georgia and Tony Knox (Rochelle) of Rome, Georgia; a caring and loving sister, Shirley Jewell (James) of Cassville, Georgia; thirteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two very devoted and close friends, Debo and Larenzo; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
