To God be the glory for all the things He hath done. Mother Eloise Gregory Ellis was born May 14, 1924 in Buffalo, New York to the union of the late Mr. Euclid and Mrs. Minnie Gregory of Erie County. She was educated in the public schools of Erie County. Mother Ellis accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior as a teenager. Faithful and devoted to the call to holiness, she continued to live a sanctified life dedicated to serving God, the church , and her community.
Mother Ellis was united in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Marion Daniel Ellis, and to this union was born two daughters, and three sons. It was her pleasure to love and nurture her children in the ways of holiness and the path of righteousness.
Mother Ellis loved the Church of God In Christ, and was privileged to serve under the leadership and administration of some of its greatest leaders: the Bishop Edgar McCleland, Holy Temple Church of God In Christ, Buffalo, New York; the late Dr. Lincoln Williams, Deliverance Temple Church of God In Christ, Buffalo, NY; the late Bishop O. M. Kelly, Kelly Temple Church of God In Christ, New York, NY. She also served under Pastor Fred Gelsey as Senior Member of the Prison Ministry (Wende Correctional Facility, Alden, NY). Mother Ellis was passionate about praying for inmates; she witnessed and wrote to them for many years. Ecclesiastes 9:10 says,"Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might." During her vibrant and productive years, Mother Ellis fulfilled this scripture serving in many capacities both in the church and in the community as: President of the Senior Usher Board, President of Altar Aides, Sunday School Teacher, Pastoral Anniversary Committee, Mother's Board Member.
Mother Ellis moved to Atlanta, Georgia at the age of 80. She continued to serve and support with gladness under leadership of the late Bishop Chandler David Owens and Bishop Matthew L. Brown, Th.D., Greater Community Church of Hod In Christ, Marietta, GA. She loved encouraging the people of God and inviting those in need of prayer to the altar. She cherished the Word of God; her favorite scripture was found in Isaiah 1:19: "If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat good of the land."
A sweet, kind cooperative, and supportive spirit was found in Mother Ellis. She was loved and admired by saints and friends in Buffalo, NY and Atlanta, GA. Mother Ellis fought a good fight and God gave her the victory through Jesus Christ our Lord. She peacefully transitioned to her eternal home on Monday, January 10, 2022.
