Elvin Canty Jr.

Mr. Elvin Canty Jr., 60 of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2019. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 10, 2019 at 12:00pm (noon) at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 147 Jones Street, Cartersville, GA 30120. The body will lie in state in the church from 11:00am until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 9, 2017 from 6:00pm - 7:00pm at the Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home, 210 North Bartow Street, Cartersville, GA. 30120. 

Elvin Canty Jr. was born on October 29, 1958 to the late Elvin Canty Sr. and Annette Dodson Canty; he received his formal education in the Summer Hill and Cartersville School Systems, graduating from Cartersville High School in 1977. Elvin accepted Christ as his Savior at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. 

He worked at Lewis Carpet Mills and Shaw Industries until his health issues no longer allowed him to work. Elvin had a gift for working on cars and lawn mowers.

Elvin is preceded in death by his father Elvin Canty Sr. and brother Lanny Canty.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his significant other Thelma Richards; mother, Annette Canty; brothers, Vann (Erika) Canty, Paul (Charmease) Canty of Austell, Ga.; sisters, Paula Canty (Kevin) Cobb of Duluth, GA., and Jorinda Brown of Chicago, Il.; nieces and nephews, Vandie Canty, Vaneka Canty, Vann Canty Jr., Alex Joyner, Taylor Cobb, Loren Cobb,  and Devyn Canty; great nieces and nephews, Makylah Cain, Demetrius (DJ) Cain, Ryleigh White-Canty, and Zoey McConnell; aunts, Emma Jean (Ralph) Foster, Mae Helen Trice, Betty (Charles) masten, Bertha (Steve) Paul, and Peggy Davis; uncle, Phillip Dodson; great aunts, Roberta Jones and Sinclair (Sam) Livsey; and a host of other relatives and friends.
