Mrs. Emma Viola Templeton, 89 of Cartersville, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2020. A GRAVESIDE SERVICE will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 11:00A.M. at Oak Hill Cemetery, 319 North Erwin Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120.

Due to COVID-19 regulations and guidelines, physical distancing practices will be in place, and MASK ARE REQUIRED for those attending the service. On a cheery, bright, sunshiny day, when birds were chirping and red roses were in full bloom, a beautiful baby girl was born to the late Brother Gordon Moore, Sr. and Mother Ruby Weems Moore.  They named their little Angel, Emma Viola Moore.  Emma was born April 24, 1931, in Bartow County, Georgia.  She was the eldest daughter of nine children.  She attended the Public-School System in Bartow County, Georgia.

Emma joined St. Luke A.M.E. Church in Cartersville, Georgia at a young age.  She was very active in the Senior Choir, the Gospel Chorus and the Fifth Sunday Missionary Choir for many years.  She participated in fundraisers and supported every facet of the church.

Emma retired in 1995 from Spinning/Shaw Industries as a machine operator after twenty years of dedicated service.  She had a love for cooking, interior decorating and caregiving.  Later in life, Emma developed an affinity for gardening, but her true passion was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Having been raised in a nurturing, spiritual and loving environment as a child, Emma enjoyed church worship, over the phone Bible Study, online fellowship, praying for others and singing old hymns, such as, "Amazing Grace," "I Know It Was The Blood" and  "What A Friend We Have In Jesus."  Until the very end, she professed her love for Jesus Christ.

Emma was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Edwin Templeton, Sr. for sixty-eight years.  They were blessed with seven children: Edwin Templeton, Jr., James Robert Templeton, Mary Ellen Templeton, Harold Gazaway Templeton, Larry Johnson, Annie Louise Brown Green, and Christina Templeton.

On September 25, 2020, after eighty-nine years of pressing toward the mark for the prize of the Most High calling in Christ Jesus, and after years of an exceptional work ethic and caring for others, Emma received her Wings to Heaven.  She has been rewarded with "The Gift of Eternal Life."

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edwin Templeton, Sr., two sons, Larry Johnson and Edwin Templeton, Jr.; two daughters, Mary Ellen Templeton and Annie Louise Brown Green; four brothers, (one brother deceased at birth), Johnny L. Moore, Andrew (Andy), (Bubba) Moore, Leonard Calvin (LC) Moore; and one sister, Ruby Steen Fezzia.

Emma leaves to treasure her memories her loving and devoted son, Harold Gazaway Templeton (Gwenel) of Rome, Georgia;  fourteen grandchildren,  Angela Davis, Derian Patterson, Jahmaal Byrd, Harold Templeton, Jr., Larraine Templeton, Jamelle Templeton, Monica Johnson, Barry Johnson, Jamie Templeton, Jr., Alec Templeton, Edwin Templeton, lll., Mary Alice Johnson, Johnette Phillips, and Virginia Evans; three siblings, Elder Gordon Moore, Jr. (Beverly) of Rex, Georgia, Faith Moore Hardnett of Fayetteville, Georgia, Louise Moore Bray (Roger) of Cartersville, Georgia; and two sisters-in-law: Celeste Moore and Vester Moore both of Cartersville, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
