Mr. Eugene M. Wells, 87, of Kingston, Georgia passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. A Funeral Service will beheld on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 12:00PM (Noon) at Queens Chapel A.M.E., 105 Johnson Street, Kingston, GA 30145. The body will lie in state in the church from 11:00AM until the hour of service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home, 210 North Bartow Street, Cartersville, Georgia from 6:00PM - 7:00PM. On the faithful night of March 1, 2023 Eugene M. Wells was called home to meet his Heavenly Father.
Eugene M. Wells was born on August 20, 1935 to his loving parents Thurston and Marie Gordon Wells in Kingston, GA. Eugene attended school in Bartow County and graduated from Summer Hill High School in 1956. At a young age, Eugene accepted Christ and joined Queens Chapel Methodist Church in Kingston, Georgia where he was an active member until his health failed.
He was a devoted husband to Mae Pearl and a loving father to his four children, Lucinda, Ann, Angela, and Clyde Wells. Eugene retired in 1999 from Goodyear of Cartersville, Georgia after thirty-four years of service, where he was a dedicated employee with many awards.
He loved gospel music; his favorite gospel group was Lee Williams and the Canton Spirituals. He would travel to enjoy those performances and gospel concerts. Eugene was a sports fanatic and athlete. He was said to be one of the best left-handed pitchers that many had ever seen.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; son, Clyde Wells; and brother Bobby Wells.
Left to cherish Eugene’s legacy and precious memories are his three loving daughters, Lucinda Ashe (Bryant )of Buena Vista, Georgia, Ann Wells of Kingston, Georgia, and Angela Ellington (Terry) of Buena Vista, Georgia; brothers James Wells of Rome, Georgia, Eddie (Harriet) Wells of Atlanta, Georgia; brother- in - law Kary Thornton of Buena Vista, Georgia; sister- in - law Lovie Foster (Eric) of Preston, Georgia; ten grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and a slew of other family members and friends.
