Flora Mae Upshaw Bryant passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at the age of 82. She was the seventh of eleven children born to James Henry Upshaw and Bertha Goodwin Upshaw in Rydal, Georgia on July 15, 1939.

She accepted Christ at an early age at New Hope Baptist Church in Rydal, Georgia. Flora , along with her parents and siblings, would later move to Cartersville, Georgia. She met Robert Heard and with this union came a son, Michael. Years later she married Harris Bryant and had a son , William Harris Bryant, Jr.

Flora spent several years working at Cartersville Spinning until she could no longer work due to an accident. She was nicknamed "Lil Bit" as a child and was affectionately called Aunt Lil BIt by her nieces and nephews. Everyone loved her. She also enjoyed playing spades with her family members every week. Flora and her siblings grew up in church. It was there where they would discover their love and gift of singing Gospel Music. She was a founding member of The Bartow Community Choir, where she sang and traveled alongside her siblings, as well as members from other churches in the area.

Flora was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Heard; great grandson, Tysseah Braziel; sisters, Alice Bell Summerize, Sarah Christine Brown, Dorothy Elizabeth Williams, Cora Mae Smith, her twin Mary Laura Webb, Martha Ruth Bonner and Betty Jane Buffington.

She leaves cherished memories with her son, William Bryant (Patricia); granddaughters, Terika Cummings, Kwanesha Owens, Chaniqua Brianna Johnson, Elizabeth Alberta Brazil, and Nakea Bryant; great grandchildren, Rudi, Derriah, and D'Kambriya, Elkins, Corey Childress and Kalyria Brown; sister, Helen Juanita Duster; brothers, Henry Leroy Upshaw (Helen) and James Dean Upshaw (Lois); niece, Vera Bryant, who was raised like a sister; adopted daughter, Lavera Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Due to COVID-19 regulations and guidelines, physical distancing practices will be in place, and MASK ARE REQUIRED for those that will be attending the service. The family is the main concern during this time of bereavement and space will be limited. We have to ensure the family is able to attend the service , so there is a possibility of some friends not being admitted. However, the service will be LIVE-STREAMED.
