Geneva McClendon Cooper, 86 of Dallas, Georgia passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025 at Harbor View Rehabilitation Center. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 26 Shiloh Church Road, Taylorsville, Georgia 30178. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 6:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home, 210 North Bartow Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement.
Geneva McClendon Cooper quietly departed this life on January 24, 2025 at Harborview Nursing Home in Rome, Georgia.
Geneva was born in Bartow County, Georgia to the late General and Margie Ruth Moore McClendon on September 4, 1938. She was educated in the Bartow County School System and attended school during the time when it was located on the church grounds of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Taylorsville, Georgia and from there she attended Summer Hill High School in Cartersville, Georgia. She grew up in the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and was an Usher and sang in the Young Adult Choir.
Geneva started her first job at Gladys’s Beauty Shop. She left her employment there and worked at Ray Sewell’s Men Suit Factory as a Presser and E-Z Mills (Spring City) as an Inspector. Later she went to work and retired at Mission Road Elementary School and Rockmart High School as a custodian worker. Later in life she married Rufus Cooper and to this union two sons were born Derrick A. Cooper and Rodjeska Cooper.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, General and Margie McClendon; husband, Rufus Cooper; son, Derrick Cooper; granddaughter, Breanna Cooper; great grandson, Calek Windom, grandmothers, Susie P. Moore and Ella McClendon; grandfathers, Jesse (Buck) Moore and Ed McClendon; brother, Reverend Willie Paul McClendon; and sister, Paulette McClendon Bannister.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory a loving son, Rodjeska (Kristina) Cooper; grandchildren, Candace Windom, Joshua Cooper, Tyresha Cooper, Kirea Cooper, Sydnie Cooper, and Savon Cooper; five great grandchildren; sisters, Bonnette McClendon, Rochelle McClendon (Jeffrey)Ellis; brothers, Jesse E. McClendon, Fredrick(Marty)McClendon, Micheal (Vanessa)McClendon and Danny Ray McClendon; sister-in-laws, Willene Cooper(Moses) Holmes and Ann Cooper; daughter-in-laws, Sylvia Brodie and Keloa Cooper; very special friends, Julia Montgomery, Onethia Hill and Leslie Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
