Gregory Alexander Callahan was born on March 27, 1956 in Bartow County to George Callahan, Jr. and Annie Mae Wheeler Callahan.  He was educated in the City of Cartersville School System and was a 1974 graduate of Cartersville High School. Gregory continued his education at Devry Institute of Atlanta. At an early age he joined New Hope Baptist Church and was a dedicated member. He was a member of the choir and played the guitar.

As a kid growing up Gregory enjoyed music and taught himself to play the keyboard and guitar.  He also loved Martial Arts, often being teased in the family and called “Bruce Leroy”.  He also enjoyed fitness and working out.

Gregory had a kind, loving heart and was always helping others in need. His smile and laugh could make you laugh for no reason.  In June of 2018 he became a grandfather and that was a role he cherished. Gregory absolutely loved being called ‘Poppy’ by his granddaughter and any time her name was mentioned in conversation his face would light up. He enjoyed spending his time and money on his beloved Mia. They definitely had a special bond and he will always be smiling down on her from heaven above!

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Callahan, Jr., Annie Mae Wheeler Callahan, and brother, Nunn Lamar Callahan.

Gregory is survived by his wife, Nezaha Mahboubi; his son, Jordan Callahan; granddaughter, Mia Callahan of Marietta, Georgia; sister, Linda Woodruff of Fayetteville, Georgia, and Delmarie Hall of Cartersville, Georgia; brother, Dewayne Washington of Cartersville, Georgia; aunts, Betty Ruth Benham, Laura Ann Callahan, Glenda Callahan all of Cartersville, Georgia, and Barbara Wheeler of Cincinnati, Ohio; uncles, Erwin (Marilyn) Callahan, Joe Callahan, James (Barbara) Wheeler of Cartersville, Georgia, Carl Wilkins, Sr. of Cartersville, Georgia and Charles Johnson of Emerson, Georgia; Goddaughter, Aliyah Campbell Watkins of Marietta, Georgia, and a special lifelong friend, Charlie Milner of Cartersville, Georgia; and a host of other relatives, loved ones, and friends.
