Gregory Montgomery, Sr. Obituary

Mr. Gregory Montgomery, Sr., 61, of Rydal, Georgia passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 12:00PM (Noon) at Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home Chapel, 210 North Bartow Street, Cartersville, GA 30120. The body will lie in state in the chapel from 11:00AM until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery, 165 Old Tennessee Road NE, Cartersville, GA 30121. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement.

Due to COVID-19 regulations and guidelines, physical distancing practices will be in place, and MASK ARE REQUIRED for those that will be attending the service. The family is the main concern during this time of bereavement and space will be limited. We have to ensure the family is able to attend the service, so there is a possibility of some friends not being admitted to the service. However, the service will be LIVE-STREAMED.

Gregory was born on September 13, 1959, to the late Willie Dee and Ethel McCray Montgomery in the bustling city of St. Louis, Missouri. He attended schools in the East St Louis District. He matriculated from the Lincoln Senior High School in 1979.

In 1982, he became engaged to Doris Clark and Full Gospel Miracle Temple. Gregory and Doris married , January 15, 1983 and went on to have 3 children, Gregory Montgomery, Jr. (preceded him in death), Darla Montgomery and Gabriel Montgomery. Gregory and Doris moved their family to College Park in January 1994. Greg had aspirations to be an entrepreneur. He started his own businesses, GM Cleaning and M & M Carpet Cleaner and moved his family to Rydal, GA. 

Gregory was also very successful as a salesman. He was a car salesman at Jordan Auto Dealership and Helig-Meyers Furniture Store. Gregory later pursued certification as a Patient Care Technician at Medix College in Smyrna, Georgia. He received his diploma in March 2010. He worked as a PCT for the state of Georgia. He later began work for the Shepherd's Center. 

Greg was passionate about patient care and loved what he did for a living.

Gregory Montgomery, Sr. passed on Friday, August 27, 2021. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Willie and Ethel Montgomery; seven brothers, Willie, Clarence, Jerry, Donald, James, Charlie, Larry Montgomery and one sister, Ethel Montgomery.

Gregory is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Doris Clark Montgomery, two children, Darla Rocquelle Montgomery, Gabriel Michael-Lawrence Montgomery, six grandchildren, Joshua Montgomery, Jahniya Montgomery, Jahlana Montgomery, Jahzaria Montgomery, Davonte Ross, Jahnae Ross, four sisters, Betty Montgomery, Maxine Williams, Madeline Griggs and Charlene Montgomery and a host of relatives and friends.
