Harrison Dean was born on August 7, 1943, to the late Eugene, Sr. and Margaret Dean. He graduated Salutatorian of the Summer Hill High School Class of 1961. His friends and family affectionately called Harrison “Tee”. He attended Tennessee State University and later accepted a job with Lockheed in Marietta where he worked for many years. He later accepted a job with Southern Bell as a telephone technician and there, Tee retired after thirty years of service.
Tee was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a faithful and dedicated Deacon. He held the position of Chairman of the board and treasurer during his time of service. He was made Deacon Emeritus in April of 2022. Tee set the bar for visiting the sick. He would always be one of the first visitors at the hospital and would stay until they sent him home. He served as Treasurer and a board member of Dr. Moore’s Hope house. He was a member of the Bartow County Planning Commission, New Frontiers of Bartow County and served as an Election Poll Officer. Tee was a smart man and always instilled the importance of Education in his children and grandchildren. He was so proud of his memory and would often show it off when he made a speech by never once looking at what he had written. Tee took pride in being prepared and having knowledge of everything he was tasked with. Tee enjoyed watching Tennis, Westerns, and his favorite “In the Heat of the Night.” He also loved playing solitaire, going out to the baseball field and watching his youngest grandson Jordan play ball.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael T. Dean, Sr.; daughter, Whitney M. Dean; and his brother, Edward E. Dean, Jr.
Tee leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Joyce Dean; children, Anissa (Perry) Cooley, Pastor Keith (Schannel) Knox, Tony (Rochelle) Knox, Courtney Dean, and Ansley Windom; grandchildren, Todd, Bianca, Andre, Kiara, Blake, Tyler (Peyton), Jordan, Kionna (Michael), Gee, Kasaundra, Taylor, Kennedy, Quint (Nikole), Peyton, Kortney, Pearson, Israel, and Genesis; great grandchildren, Amari, Kaiden, Kyrie, Keyston, Riley, and Hudson; sister, Pam Manual; God-children, Lynne James, Kisha Dudley, Kedrick Chatmon and Kendria Chatmon; stepchildren, David and Neon Winters; special friends, Larry Griffin, Donald Strickland, Willie Everett, and Liller Dean; and a host of other relatives and friends that love and will miss him.
