Mrs. Irene Houston, 82, of Acworth, Georgia passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021at 1:00 P.M. at Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home, 210 North Bartow Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. Interment will follow in Liberty Hill Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Acworth, Georgia 30101. The body will lie in state in the chapel from 12:00PM (Noon) until the hour of service.
Due to COVID-19 regulations and guidelines, physical distancing practices will be in place, and MASK ARE REQUIRED for those that will be attending the service. The family is the main concern during this time of bereavement and space is limited. We have to ensure the family is able to attend the service, so there is a possibility of some friends not being admitted. However, the service will be LIVE-STREAMED.
Irene Austin Brown Houston was born on May 15, 1938 to the late Mr. & Mrs. Curtis Austin and Lula Austin in Fitzgerald, Georgia. On Saturday, January 23, 2021 at the age of 82, she passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family.
Mrs. Irene took great pride and joy in letting everyone that she met know just how much she loved the Lord. If you were around her for more that ten minutes, I am sure you heard her speak wonderful words of her Lord and even blessed you with a praise song or two. She attended church all her life until her health began to fail her. Mrs. Irene demonstrated her love for God's people as she worked and served as a Registered Nurse at Jewish Homes and NorthShore Hospital until she retired.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Lula Austin; son, Kenny Brown; and daughter, Jackie Houston.
Mrs. Irene leaves to cherish her sweet memory, a loving and devoted husband - that she thanked God for every day, Mr. Robert Charles Houston, Sr.; daughters, Angela Brown Clark, Lisa Houston, and Sondra (Karl) Henderson; granddaughter - that she loved and raised, Amerest Brown; sons, Robert Charles Houston,Jr. and Charles (Bertha) Hughes; two sisters, Minnie (Ron) Gibbs and Lily Jones; and a loving and caring sister -in-law, Roslyn Houston; two brothers -in-law, Bruce Houston and Lawrence (Janice) Houston; aunt, Virginia Austin; uncles, Willard Austin and Lonnie Floyd; as well as her loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, loved ones and friends.
