When one door closes in our lives, God always opens another. Sometimes when least expected, a door closes in our lives. Circumstances may change, dreams may get shattered, and plans for tomorrow may disappear. But when one door closes, God always opens another, when we’re facing disappointment in our lives.

Jaleel Marquis Bailey, aka “Jay” was born on August 16, 2000 to Otis and Jennifer Bailey in Cartersville, Georgia. He was the oldest of three boys born to this union. As a child, Jay became a First Degree Black Belt with Choi Kwong Do. He played football and baseball, but in middle school he found his passion. He selected playing percussions in the band. This began his love for all percussion instruments. During high school, he played the Bass Drum and various concert percussion instruments. He enjoyed spending time with family, playing computer games, travelling and watching wrestling.

Jaleel graduated from Woodland High School in 2018. Jay was a senior student at Clemson University, studying mechanical engineering. As a pre-teen his parents noticed he was a Mr. Fix-It. He was the family’s go to guy for projects, electrical and number things.  While at Clemson, Jay began a love for watching all sports. He watched to keep up with the statistics of each teams winning percentages and scores. Jay enjoyed being a member of the Clemson Tiger Band and Drumline. He developed many friendships and enjoyed his band family.

His grandmother, Rosalyn M. Bailey, preceded Jay in death.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Otis and Jennifer Bailey; brothers, Omari and Jorian; grandparents, Eva Wise, Leonard Marlow Bailey, and Alonzo Wise; aunts, Rosalyn G. Bailey and Audrey Bailey; uncles, Wayne Wise, Leonard Van Bailey, Willis (Mali) Bailey, Sr. and Chris Bailey; cousins, Khaleelah, Willis Jr., Leander and Kristyna; and a host of other relatives and friends.
