James Anthony Akins, 64 of Acworth, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 12:00P.M. (Noon) at Mars Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 74 Mars Hill Church Path, Dallas, Georgia 30157. Public viewing for Mr. Akins will be at the church from 11:00A.M. until the hour of service. Interment will be in Paulding Memorial Gardens, 3566 Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway, Hiram, Georgia 30141. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement. This service will be LIVE STREAMED.
James Anthony Akins, better known as “Andy” was born on February 22, 1960 in Dallas, Georgia to James Akins and Rebecca Roberts Kinnebrew. As a child he loved hunting, skating and time with his cousins. Andy was educated in the Paulding County and Atlanta Public School Systems and was as he often said “born in the country, raised in the city.” He also attended Georgia State University. He was a proud United States Marine and loved to give a loud “Oorah!” He was employed at Lockheed Martin for many years and had a deep love driving trucks and traveling across states.
Andy accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour at an early age. He truly loved the Lord, sharing his faith and singing his favorite song “Do Lord.” He was a faithful member of Mars Hill Baptist Church and loved by his church family. Andy never met a stranger! With his charismatic personality and undeniable humor, Andy knew everyone from Dallas to Atlanta.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Akins and Rebecca Roberts Kinnebrew and his sister Maureen Gresham.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his son, Chris Reed; dedicated and devoted sisters, Cassandra Bryant (Robert) and Jeanette Akins; brother, Frank Poole; one granddaughter Royalty Reed; two special aunts,Maxine Smith and Gloria Bolton; two loving uncles, Gary and Jeffrey Vincent and a special friend Lavoyd Pete. He also leaves to cherish a lifetime of love and memories a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
