James Hilton Echols, Jr., 70, of Acworth, Georgia passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at WellStar Kennestone Hospital.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at Bethel A.M.E.Church, 4826 School Street, Acworth, Georgia 30101. Interment will follow in Liberty Hill Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Acworth, Georgia 30101. The body will lie in-state in the church from 12:00 P.M. (noon) until the hour of service. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 19, 2024 at the residence, 1201 Ridgeside Drive NW, Acworth, Georgia 30102. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement. This service will be LIVE-STREAMED.
On Thursday, July 11, 2024 James Hilton Echols, Jr. passed away surrounded by his loving family, he was raised up on Glade Road aka “Country” and later moved to Taylor Street.
James Hilton Echols, Jr. was born on August 13, 1953 to the late Fannie Mae Wynn and James Hilton Echols, Sr.
James was loved and well known around his hometown of Acworth, Georgia. He enjoyed landscaping and made a career doing what he loved. He was a great father and husband to the late Peggy McKinney. Being with family was James’s favorite pastime. His sister Florene was a very intricate part of his life. James loved spending time with all his grandchildren especially Xavier who had a special place in his heart.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy McKinney; parents, James and Fannie Mae Echols; sister, Lora Ann Echols; brothers, Ralph Dodd and William Dodd.
James leaves to cherish memories his daughter “babygirl” Cindy Robinson (Allen) of Acworth: three sons, Charles McKinney of Cartersville, Jessie McKinney of Woodstock, Rico Echols (Tiffany) of Acworth; sister, Florene Hill (Ray) of Marietta; brothers, Willie Echols (Sue) of Canton, Roy Echols (Angie) of Canton, Wade Kellogg (Shunna) of Marietta, Bruce Echols (San) of Marietta; eleven, grandchildren; special cousins, Herman Junior, Dwayne Echols and Archie Mitchell; aunt, Annabell Echols; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sister in laws, brother in laws and other relatives and friends.
