James Jones Obituary

James Wendell Jones, 64 of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Piedmont Hospital Cartersville surrounded by his loving family. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11:00A.M. at St Luke AME Church,  130 Jones Street Cartersville Georgia 30120. The body will lie in state in the church from 10:00A.M. until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery , 165 Old Tennessee Rd NE, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement. This service will be LIVE-STREAMED.

James Wendell Jones was born on April 19, 1959 to Ethel Milner and the late Anthony P. Jones. He joined St. Luke AME Church at an early age. He attended Cartersville High School and graduated with the Class of 1977. He furthered his education and graduated from West Georgia University. He was then accepted into Georgia Institute of Technology. Jimmy was offered a job at Equifax where he worked as a computer operator.

Jimmy had an accident on his way to work which revealed that he had Multiple Sclerosis. He was hospitalized at Beverly Healthcare in Decatur, Georgia for several months before being transferred to Cartersville Heights until his passing at Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center on Thursday, March 28, 2024.

His father, Anthony P. Jones and his sister Cheryl Jones Winston and his grandparents, Annie and Edward Milner preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Ethel Milner; brothers, Anthony Hollis Jones of Cartersville, Georgia and Randall M. Jones of Taylorsville, Georgia; sister, Sallie J. Dean; M. Denise Williams of Marietta, Georgia; aunts,Carrie Milner of Cartersville, Georgia,and Constance James of Hercules, California; uncle Cornelius Jones of Rockmart, Georgia; nieces and nephews, Nakaial (Nick) Jones, Darelle (Brittany) Jones; Brittany M. Jones of Denver, Colorado, Wesley Tyrone Dean, Jr. and Anna Danielle Dean of Atlanta, Georgia; Sydney N. Jones of Dallas, Texas, Lyndsay B. Jones of Lithonia, Georgia, Hayley K. Jones of Summerville, Georgia; and a host of other great nieces and great nephews; along with a host of other loving relatives and friends.
