James Kellogg Obituary

James Almond Kellogg, 52 of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026 at Piedmont Healthcare Cartersville surrounded by his loving family. Funeral service will be Thursday, April 23, 2026 at 1:00 PM, at the Church at Liberty Square, 2001 Liberty Square Drive NE, Cartersville, Georgia 30121. The body will lie in state in the church from 12:00 P.M. until the hour of service.Interment will follow in Emerson Bartow Cemetery, Emerson, Georgia. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 from 6:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home, 210 North Bartow Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement. This service will be LIVE-STREAMED.

James Almond Kellogg was born on March 15,1974 to James Kellogg and the late Victoria Johnson Kellogg in Marietta Georgia. Almond graduated from Cartersville High School in 1993 where he played football and ran track for the Purple Hurricanes. He later joined the United States Navy in 1993, and served for several years.

 He met his sweetheart and best friend Retta Kellogg in 1996 Thanksgiving weekend. They married the following February 14th, Valentine's Day 1997.  To their union five daughters were born, Ciontoria Winters, Antoinette Taylor, and Shaimira Kellogg,  Autumn Kellogg and Alneisha Kellogg. Almond was an avid worker and jack-of-all trades from restaurants to hotel, then retiring in retail.

Affectionately referred to as “Hog Mog”, “Nuncle Nalmond” “Earl”, and “Bob”. He enjoyed Football with his wife. Their favorite slogan was "Win, Lose, or Draw, We're Falcon fans for life!" He also enjoyed playing chess, gardening, fishing, singing songs from the Isley Brothers, cooking for his family and especially watching In the Heat of the Night with his granddaughter, whom he called “Itty Bitty”.

He is proceeded in death by grandparents Rosalee Kellogg, Walter (Mary) Johnson; mother Victoria Kellogg; uncle Carey Johnson; aunts Peggy (James) Slocum, and Rosalyn Bailey; Niece Crystal Johnson; great nephew Malachi Davis; and daughter Ciontoria Winters.

Left to cherish his memories are his longtime devoted wife of 30 years Retta Kellogg; daughters, Antoinette Taylor, Shaimira West (Elliot), Autumn Kellogg (Keenan), and Alneisha Kellogg (Ray); son, Ricardo Perez; grandchildren, Aria Hinton, Donlin Hinton IV, Londin Hinton, Na'Riyah Taylor, Dexlynn West, Amayah Willis; father James C. Kellogg; Claude Durham; sister Kimberly (Joseph) McAfee; brothers, Patrick (Melissa) Kellogg and Heath Kellogg;  father in law, Benjamin Raymond; mother in law, Diane (Jerome) Hall; sister in laws, Jeanetta Raymond, Lyrisa Brown and Desire’e Hall; aunts, Marilyn (E.L.) Callahan, Carolyn (Lamar) Johnson, Candice Johnson, Roxie Kellogg-Kelly, Susie Gilbert, Addie Lynn; uncles, Eddie Lynn, Robert (Mary Ann) Johnson, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and shipmates.
