Mr. James Percy Echols, 69 of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at Piedmont Healthcare of Cartersville surrounded by his loving family. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 12:00 P.M. (Noon) at Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home Chapel, 210 North Bartow Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. The body will lie in state in the chapel from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 21, 2025 from 6:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M at Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home, 210  North Bartow Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement. This service will be LIVE-STREAMED.

On Sunday, November 16, 2025, James Percy Echols entered into the Land Of the Living with Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior surrounded by his earthly family at Piedmont Healthcare in Cartersville, Georgia.

James Percy Echols was born on April 22, 1056 to the late Odessa Hill and Ralph Kemp of Acworth, Georgia.

His brothers, Ray Charles Kemp and Will Lee Kemp; sister, Theresa Johnson; daughter, Gloria Cook; and his sister precede him in death in law, Brenda Kemp.

Percy as he was known by all worked in Bartow and Cobb County for over forty-five years in Construction and Chemical Production until he was able to retire in 2008. He met Mary Louise Cook in 1983 and later married and became a close-knit family in Cartersville, Georgia, consisting of their children, Gwendolyn Cook, Kimberly Cook, Bruce Cook, Charles (Nicole) Cook, Felix Cook, and Michael Cook.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 39 years, Mary Echols; children; grandchildren; great grand children; great-great-great grandson, K. James Wells; brother, Keith B. Echols; sister, Charlene Echols; sister in law, Doreen Kemp; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
