Jane Evelyn Peeks Lavette passed early Sunday morning on October 31, 2021. Evelyn has battled many illnesses for many years. She’s definitely been a soldier during these difficult times.
Evelyn was educated in the Bartow County School System where she met and married the love of her life Robert Lee Lavette, Sr. in 1958. To this union nine children were born. During her early life Evelyn worked for several companies, while raising her children. She worked for Private Pickett, Cartersville Country Club, and Bartow County Schools. She later found her forever place of employment in Lockheed Martin where she retired with over twenty years of service. Evelyn was a beautiful person both inside and out. She loved people and made friends no matter where she was. She was outspoken and full of joy. She enjoyed playing the lottery or any other game of chance. She loved the soap operas, game shows and talking on the phone with her
family; Aunt Jean, James Peeks, Leatha Ann, Bobbie Richards and others. She was a very giving person, if you needed it and she had it, she gave it to you. All that knew and loved her will truly miss her.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Lavette, Sr.; one daughter, Janice Latrese Lavette; mother Mattie Peeks (James); her father, Charlie Morris, Sr. (Thelma); her siblings, John Willie Peeks, Larry Peeks, Margaret Banks, Lorenzo Morris, Charlie Morris, Jr., Robert Morris, Tommy Morris and Lucy Hudson.

She leaves to cherish her memories; sons, Darrell (Sheila), Robert, Gregory (Judy), Kerry (Debra), Samuel (Carrie); daughters, Gwendolyn (Bennie), Cynthia (Jackie) and Tonia; sisters, Bobbie Richards (Luther), Barnedia Durrah (Dodie), and Tina Morris; brothers, James Peeks, Jr. (Melanie), Aaron, John Morris (Ressie), Myles (Sylvia), Phillip (Sybil), Larry and Harold; twenty-five grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
