Mr. Jean - Claude Joseph, 76 of Cartersville, Georgia, formerly of Port-Au - Prince, Haiti passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019, 'he went back to the place where he belongs." Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 12:00pm (noon) at First Baptist Church of Emerson, 11 Franklin Loop SE, Cartersville, GA 30120. The body will lie in state in the church from 11:00am until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, 319 N. Erwin Street, Cartersville, GA. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at the Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home, 210 North Bartow Street, Cartersville, GA 30120.
Jean-Claude Joseph was born March 29, 1942, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He was the seventh of seven children born to Vilmaret Joseph and Lilia Estimable Joseph. He graduated from the prestigious JB Damier School of Engineering with a Bachelor's degree. While in Haiti, he participated in major infrastructure projects with international companies as a civil engineer building roads in various provinces, including Jacmel, Jeremie, Cap-Haitien and Les Cayes. In 1981, Jean-Claude emigrated to the United States with his older brothers residing first in New York City, New York, then in Boston, Massachusetts.
He Joined Evelyn Delice in holy matrimony in 1990. Then, in 1999, he moved to the warmth and sunshine of Euharlee, Georgia. He became a member of First Baptist Church of Emerson where he was active in the choir. Jean-Claude was a lover of God and of people. He enjoyed being of service to the family and friends such as running errands, doing a favor here and there; endless home projects and chores; and tinkering with cars or anything with a motor. He was a peacemaker, advice dispenser and cheerleader to his wife and children, long list of siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews and friends.
Jean-Claude is preceded in death by his parents, Vilmaret Joseph and Lilia Estimable Joseph; his siblings, Henri Joseph, Emery Mauvais, Cecile Joseph and Paul Joseph.
He is survived by his loving wife , Evelyn; their two children, Deborah and Natalie, as well his children from previous unions; Rabert Joseph and family, Erwin Joseph and family, Jean Rickard Joseph and family and Marc Arthur Joseph and family; grandchildren, Abdelle Joseph, Richardson "Ritchie" Joseph and Rihianna Lynne Joseph; siblings, Augusta Joseph Thervil and family and Jacques Joseph and family; nieces and nephews, Mirtha “Michou” Joseph, Julie Joseph, Sereth Thervil Hosty and family; Marlene Thervil Olivier and family; Joel Thervil and family; Fritz “Toto” Joseph and family; Barbara Joseph and family; Carline Mauvais and family; Mireille Mauvais and family; Naomi Mauvais and family; Emery Mauvais Jr., and family; Evelyne Mauvais and family; and Nancy Joseph and family; and a host of other relatives and friends.
His family and friends will greatly miss him--but he will always remain in our hearts and fondest memories.
